Specialty Home Services

Area Rug Cleaning

Precious area rugs are carefully inspected to determine colour fastness and cleanablility. They are carefully vacuumed, spot cleaned, gently agitated and cleaned with our Green For ® cleaning agents, and groomed. Fringes are cleaned by hand and then the rug is hung on large racks to dry. No caustic or bleaching agents are used.

Wool and synthetic area rugs are priced per square foot, depending on the type of rug. Pick up and delivery is a part of our service.

Drapery & Blind Cleaning

All varieties of window treatments are carefully inspected and cleaned on location or removed to our cleaning facility.

Draperies are dry cleaned, or wet cleaned if viable. Horizontal and vertical blinds, including all specialty blinds are cleaned in our ultrasonic cleaning tanks with gentle cleaning agents. Ultrasonic cleaning cleans the whole item, including hard to reach places. Sound waves cause tiny bubbles to gently remove soils safely and efficiently.

Pick up and delivery is recommended to minimize damage. Priced accordingly.

Tile & Grout Cleaning

The grout lines between ceramic and stone tiles often become discoloured over time. The ServiceMaster Clean self-contained Viper pressure washing system can restore them and then add a semi-permanent sealer to make them resistant to staining.

Hardwood Cleaning

Professionally finished or prefinished hardwood adds a traditional beauty to your home. Most believe the urethane finish is indestructible and needs only to be washed occasionally. But, like most plastic, it can be scratched, and over time becomes quite tired looking in need of refinishing.

ServiceMaster of Victoria will clean your hardwood floor and apply a hard wax that can be polished to match the original luster.

If your hardwood has become damaged or scratched by pet claws or excessive traffic, it may be time to consider refinishing.

Prices vary with areas cleaned. Please call 250-384-3225 for more information.

Upholstery Cleaning

Upholstered furniture often goes neglected for long periods of time because soils usually accumulate unnoticeably, over time. Dust can be removed through consistently vacuuming, recommended at least weekly. Greasy soils, however, through daily use and from pets must be dealt with properly. If allowed to accumulate, they can, over time, degrade the fibres and mute the colour. Regular professional cleaning can restore them to a near “just purchased” look.

When you contact our office for an estimate, we will inquire as to the specific content of the material. If manufactured in Canada, the label will clearly note the fibre content and is usually found under the centre cushion. If not, a general rule to identify the fibre type is to describe the feel of the fabric as either course, which tends to be synthetic, or soft, more natural, like cotton or linen.

Pricing is dictated by the fibre content, natural fibres being priced slightly more because of the difficulty and moisture sensitivity. Loose back cushions or accent pillows are extra. Teflon or solvent guard protection for moisture sensitive fabrics is highly recommended, usually adding about half the cleaning cost. Cotton velvet and a few other specialty fabrics are priced accordingly. Call us today for more information or arrange a free no obligation in home estimate.

Leather Furniture Cleaning

Leather Furniture is very durable and luxurious and an obvious choice when functionality and design are desired. Most people buy leather furniture thinking that it is almost indestructible. Sadly, avoidance of even the most basic care can dramatically reduce the useful life of leather.

Remember that leather is an animal hide, chemically treated or chromed or patented, yes, but still an animal skin. Over time, leather will lose its moisture, dry out and eventually crack. This is usually the time that most homeowners call us to clean it to try and put some life back into it. Obviously, when it becomes creased and cracked it is too late.

Preventive measures of frequent cleaning with a suitable gentle soap will remove harmful alkaline soil from hand oils which break down, dry out and damage leather. Either use saddle soap, Murphy soap or the cleaning product that you got when you purchased the piece. Gently wash and rinse frequently it to remove harmful soil build up. Even when this is done routinely, leather still has a tendency to dry out, so it must be conditioned from time to time.

Trust ServiceMaster of Victoria to carefully test, clean and recondition your leather furnishings. ServiceMaster products and cleaning systems gently clean and recondition leather without the use of silicone, frequently found in over the counter products. Replenishing the oils lost through daily use will extend the life, look and feel of your favourite furniture
